Co-Program Director: Dr. Melissa Roy

Melissa Roy, MD received her medical degree and completed her pediatric residency at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Roy is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics. Contact Dr. Roy at or 225-765-3368.




Co-Program Director: Dr. Michael Bolton

Michael Bolton, M.D., received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.  He earned his medical doctorate from Louisiana State University in Shreveport.  He completed his residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics at Louisiana State University in Shreveport.  He then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  He returned to Louisiana to practice Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. Dr. Bolton serves as the Director of Quality and Safety for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, the Assistant Director of Quality for the residency program, and the Rotation Director for Infectious Disease. Associate Program Director: Dr. Angela Byrd

Angela Byrd, M.D., received her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. She received her M.D. from Duke University. Associate Program Director: Dr. Roberta Vicari

Roberta Vicari, M.D., received her doctoral degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Prior to joining the residency program, she served as Medical Director for the Pediatric Department and Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. She currently serves on several community boards and is very active in the Baton Rouge community. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Earl K. Long Hospital and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Vicari is an Associate Director for the Pediatric Residency Program and the OLOL Director for Medical Student Clerkships through the Tulane School of Medicine.



Associate Program Director: Dr. Amelia Wood

Amelia (Amy) Wood, MD, received her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in Biology from the College of Charleston. She received her medical doctorate from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Wood completed her Pediatric residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and her Neonatal-Perinatal fellowship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and sub-board certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Dr. Wood serves as Director of Global Health for the Our Lady of the Lake Pediatric Residency Program. Assistant Program Director: Diane Kirby, MD
Dr. Kirby
received her Bachelor's degree from University of New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana.  Dr. Kirby received her M.D. degree from Louisiana State University New Orleans as completing her pediatric residency. Program Coordinator: Samantha Kang, BA

Samantha Kang was born just outside New Orleans, LA. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Art degree in Art History. She has been with the Pediatric Residency Program since February 2016. You can contact Samantha at or 225-765-3368.



Lead Coordinator of Recruitment & Selection: Samuel Cancienne

Samuel Cancienne received his Bachelor’s and MBA degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Previous experience includes employment with Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans as well as volunteer work with St. Vincent de Paul in Baton Rouge.  He has been with Pediatric Residency Program since August 2017.
