The Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Education Symposium will feature a nationally recognized expert in child development and the cognitive effects of screen time. Dr. Dimitri Christakis is set to deliver the keynote address during the symposium on Saturday, March 5, 2016. The symposium is being presented in conjunction with Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Amazing Half Marathon Weekend, and offers pediatric physicians across the state an opportunity for research, education and networking.
Dr. Christakis is the director of the Center for Child Health, Behavior and Development at Seattle Children's Research Institute. He's also a pediatrician at Seattle Children's Hospital and a professor in the School of Medicine at University of Washington. He has devoted his career to investigating how early experiences affect children and to helping parents improve their children's early learning environments.
In addition to Dr. Christakis, the symposium will include several other experts presenting on topics ranging from global pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric sports medicine and more. It will also feature a research poster presentation. The symposium is open to physicians, mid-level providers, medical residents and nurses.
