The OLOL Pediatric Residency Program welcomed its first class of categorical residents in 2010. Since then, it has continued to develop all aspects of the categorical program. In addition to the breadth of learning that is achieved through clinical rotations and didactics, categorical residents personalize their training through electives, tailored to their interests, and scholarly activity, which allows them to delve into topics meaningful to them. Some graduates of the categorical resident program have chosen to practice medicine in primary care settings or hospitals. Others have pursued fellowship training for careers in specialty fields, such as Pulmonology, Hematology/Oncology, and Pediatric Critical Care.
